About Spadework

Spadework is a charity, which provides life skills training and work experience for over 90 people with learning disabilities.

Our aim is to support the Trainees who use our service as they develop their independence and personal skills through social interaction with the community, and to ultimately provide them with the necessary skills to reach their full potential.

Our Trainees are involved in all aspects of Spadework. They produce the plants that are sold in the garden centre and the fruit and vegetables served in the café and sold in the farm shop. They help to make cakes, jam and chutneys and serve customers in the café and in the farm shop.

Garden Centre

The garden centre stocks everything you may need to keep your garden looking lovely, including: home grown plants, fruit and vegetable plants, shrubs, trees, seeds, bulbs and a stunning selection of garden accessories. The Trainees grow many of the plants from seed and also provide a bespoke hanging basket service.

Farm Shop

The Farm Shop offers quality produce from small local producers, including essentials like fresh bread and cakes, meats, home cooked hams and pies, fruit and vegetables and luxury items including the award winning Chapel Down wines, fruit flavoured liquors, luxury chocolates and hand-made fudge.

The Café specialises in home-cooked meals, using local ingredients, some of which have been grown on site, making it perfect for a quick coffee, sandwich, a three-course lunch, or an excellent Kentish breakfast at weekends.

Farmers’ Market

Spadework holds the Offham Farmers’ Market on the second Saturday of each month (excluding January and February), where you will find live music, food demonstrations and over 30 stalls selling a range of speciality foods, drinks and arts and crafts.
