Went for lunch today and the food was fabulous and the staff serving were very friendly and efficient. Will definitely be returning.
Great place for plants, gifts and such a great Cafe.
Lovely place and good selection of plants. Friendly staff and nice to sit with a coffee and chill
We have just had the most delightful team of trainees from Spadework come to our home. They picked all of the apples from our two trees in record time. They were so polite, friendly and hard working, we can’t thank them enough. We hope the apples are good enough for your juice. A great big THANK YOU to John,Graham,Kirsty,Tom,Jonathan,James Brown and Simon. It was an absolute pleasure to have met you all. Also, just to make everyone aware, Spadework now do landscape and garden services, something to consider if you or someone you know needs a helping hand in the garden. We can’t recommend them highly enough.
As many of you know, I’m a keen gardener as well as a greedy foodie. Imagine my joy then of recently discovering a fantastic local charity-run garden centre & café – Spadework.
Based in Offham, Kent – Spadework provides over 90 adults with learning and other disabilities the opportunity to learn new skills and gain work experience. Trainees are involved in many roles; from helping to grow the plants sold in the garden centre, to making some of the cakes and chutneys served in the Café, (which boasts seating for 50, as well as some outdoor seating if you’re lucky enough to have great weather!)
During our last visit we opted for the Mediterranean Sharing Platter (pictured), which was really good. The walnut and raisin bread, teamed with the feta and Parma ham really stood out. Portion size was perfect for the two of us and at £14.90, was good value for money (we were stuffed!)
The garden centre has a wide selection of plants and gardening products, all of which are very reasonably priced. I got all of my bedding plants and the most lovely hanging basket on my last visit – which barely fit in the car!
The atmosphere at Spadework is relaxed and welcoming which allows for easy interaction between the Trainees and the general public.
It’s clear to see why Spadework has been such a successful project for over 30 years and long may it’s success continue.

Whilst Spadework is aware of this post, it is not sponsored, and all opinions are my own.
We visited Spadework last Monday and we loved it. Yes, there are [very small] things which could be improved, but overall the feel of the nursery was relaxed, homely and informal. The staff were all friendly and personable. The plants really are fantastic quality and very reasonably priced. We won’t be going anywhere else for our plant stocks now. Thank you Spadework, what a wonderful place you’ve created.
