Spadework garden centre

Garden CentreAt Spadework we grow the majority of plants that are available for sale in our Garden Centre which includes seasonal bedding, shrubs, climbers, wide range of perennials, fruit trees and bushes.

Even if we do say ourselves our hanging baskets and containers are first class! Our trainees take great pride in offering a bespoke planting service, no job too big or small. Just bring in your existing containers/baskets for a seasonal makeover or choose from the items we stock in store.

In addition to our home grown plants we use other local and UK based specialist nurseries to ensure we have something for all seasons.

We stock all the usual suspects from compost to seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, ornamental pots and seasonal items such as charcoal, bird care, coal and logs. Our logs come in nets or half and full trailer loads which staff and trainees will stack into your log store or shed. Please enquire in store for full details.

If you need a helping hand our knowledgeable and friendly staff and trainees will be only to pleased to assist you; anything from finding the right plant for a problem area or loading compost into your car.

We may not be the biggest but we aim to have all you will need to make your garden grow!

Grounds

Come and have a walk around our 7 acre site to get inspiration. Our Gardening Team are kept busy tending to our beds, borders and display gardens. The wildlife area and woodland walk change with the seasons and feature plants that are available for sale in the Garden Centre.

The drought/gravel garden between our production Glasshouse and Garden Centre also provides material to supplement our cutting garden so we are able to offer home grown flowers for sale in the Farm Shop and to decorate the tables in our Café.

Vegetable Patch

If all this was not enough we grow our own fruit and vegetables to be used in the Café, sold through the Farm Shop and our monthly Farmers’ Markets. Please do come down and have a walk round just remember to please close the doors to keep the pesky pigeons out! Trainees are involved in preparing the beds, sowing the seeds, watering and harvesting the produce.

The humble garden pansy is a type of large-flowered hybrid plant cultivated as a garden flower. It is derived by hybridization from several species in the section Melanium of the genus Viola, particularly Viola tricolor, a wildflower of Europe and western Asia known as heartsease. Pansies usually are either planted in spring or Autumn. They like rich, well-drained soil high in organic matter, and full sun or partial shade. These little beauties were all lovingly grown by our trainees and are now available for you to buy in our Garden Centre.
