A few words from The Friends of Spadework

March 2018

Dear All

The Friends of Spadework are an independent group of Parents, Family Members, Friends and supporters of the Trainees at Spadework – and that includes you!

Again, we have to say a huge thank you to the Harley Davidson Riders. They kindly supported us for a second year and presented the Friends of Spadework with another very generous cheque. We have been very grateful to receive their sponsorship.

In 2016/7, as a direct result of this boost to funds The Friends were delighted to be able to finance improvements in the facilities provided for the Trainees in the Locker Room.

This means that every Trainee now has his or her own locker. There are benches with hanging space for all to use and the decoration and heating has been improved. Vital on those cold, wet days.

This year our special project is to supply games and activities for the Trainees recreational periods.  So far, we have purchased football equipment and games such as Giant Chess, High Tower, Connect 4 and Petanque. Other exciting equipment is on its way. Look out for Garden Darts, Skittles and Croquet.

You can see these items around the site and join in the games during your visits.

The ‘Friends Of Spadework’ bought a giant Connect 4, a huge High Tower and an amazing Pétanque set, just in time for our Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday 25th March.

All of these (plus more) are available for the Trainees, Staff, Volunteers and the public to play with 7 days a week.

Your contributions HELP us to make a difference

Look out for our Bric-a-Brac and Tombola stalls at the markets and other special events.

Donations of Tombola prizes and    Bric-a-Brac gratefully received.

Are you a member of the 100 CLUB?

The 100 Club is another great way to support The Friends and all profit goes towards extra resources for the Trainees. If you are already a member, consider giving a year’s subscription as a birthday or Christmas present.

Pick up a form at the Spadework Office. Alternatively send details (name & address) with a cheque for £12 in favour of “Friends of Spadework” to Richard Thomas at 2 Vaughan Avenue, Tonbridge, Kent TN10 4EB.

Draws are held each month with three prizes, the value of which is determined by the number of members. That’s thirty-six winners every year!
