A few words from The Friends of Spadework

The Friends of Spadework are an independent group of Parents, Family Members, Friends and supporters of the Trainees at Spadework – and that could include you!

Your contributions help us to make a difference

Thank you for all the bric-a-brac and tombola prizes donated throughout the year – please keep them coming in.

We want to continue to contribute to the Summer Outing (the Trainees went to Howletts Zoo this summer) as well as the Christmas Party buffet. These are traditionally paid for from the proceeds of our Tombola and Bric-a-Brac stalls at the Summer Fair in June and the Christmas Market in December.

Working on the stalls is great fun but we are always in friends-top-pictureneed of more help. So, if you can spare some time on Sat 10th December 2016 or Sat 10th June 2017 (or the day before when we set up our wares) please get in touch and COME AND JOIN US.

We are also seeking a place to store our bric-a-brac between sales.

If you can help – even in a small way – ask about us at the Office or Shop, email us or stop by our stall and talk to us about our work.

We are a friendly bunch and welcome new faces.

We meet at Spadework, three or four times a year, to plan our activities (optional extras – a spot of lunch in Tastebuds Café and a browse around the nursery).

The 100 Club is another great way to support The Friends and all profit goes towards the social events for the Trainees.

If you are already a member, consider giving a year’s subscription as a birthday or Christmas present. Pick up a form at the Spadework Office. Alternatively send details (name & address) with a cheque for £12 made payable to “Friends of Spadework” to Richard Thomas at 2 Vaughan Avenue, Tonbridge, Kent TN10 4EB.

Draws are held each month with three prizes, the value of which is determined by the number of members. That’s thirty-six winners every year!

Thank you to the Harley Davidson Riders friends-middle-pictureAnyone present could not have failed to hear the arrival of the motorbikes when they roared into the car park at the March Farmer’s Market. The bikes were much admired when their riders gathered to present a very generous cheque to the Friends of Spadework. Mary Broad, one of the founders of Spadework, accepted the magnificent cheque for £1393.10 on behalf of The Friends.

We are very grateful to receive their support and this generous sponsorship has enabled us to take on a special project for 2016. The Trainees would really appreciate improved facilities in their Locker Room and, as a direct result of this boost to our funds, The Friends are delighted to be able to finance this much needed refurbishment. Work is expected to start shortly.
